He’s sooo adorable! His father is a Newfoundland, and his mother is an Alaskan Malamute. They had a litter about two years ago and the owners kept one of those puppies. It is now 170Lbs and still growing! I expect that my new little puppy is going to become a bit bigger than he is now! I will upload a video of our first encounter, and post it on the Podcast section! Come see! Isn’t he cuuuuute?
-Matt
Well things have been... exciting around here. I am sorry that it’s been so long since my last posting, I will try to get back in the swing of things again soon. I guess the biggest news is the bus accident. At the end of last month, I was driving the bus around Longmont because it needs to be driven regularly as a big diesel or seals start to leak and the engine has trouble. For those of you who know the area I was heading west on Nelson Rd. when around a curve in the road the engine stopped. This has happened to us before, but on a highway that was straight and we were able to just pull off to the side of the road and try to fix it. In this case though, when I lost power, I also lost... well everything else like... steering. The bus and I went off the side of the road and down a berm, and the bus rolled over on it’s passenger side. No one was on-board but me and I was (of course) wearing my seatbelt. No serious injuries, though it was frightening and not at all pleasant. I do not recommend parking in this manner for any of you out there thinking of getting a bus and parking it on it’s side. Thankfully it was insured for at least some of what we had put into it... a big loss, but no loss of life and in our book, that is still considered a “win”.
I have been reluctant to write anything, because I don’t like seeming pessimistic or like a complainer. It’s high-time that I get this over and done with though so that I can get back to writing about nice things like how lovely it is here, and how I intend to smoke the Turkey for Thanksgiving this year, and how we are trying to sell the Toyota Sienna because it’s two-wheel drive and won’t reliably make it up our hill in the winter. We have gotten Tanya a GMC Yukon Denali XL (basically a Suburban) which has four-wheel drive AND the cargo space for all of our instruments and gear for when we have a gig. I have been calling it “Llama” so that we can say we have our very own Denali Llama, but it’s kind of gold colored so yesterday I started calling it “Tanya’s Yukon Gold”.

I woke up this morning to 9F but that’s at least not in the negative digits! My parents are coming from Missouri to visit this weekend and it’s supposed to snow all weekend long. Ahh well, I guess that’s just the way it goes. Still, in spite of being a bit chilly, it is lovely =)
Just a couple of days ago it was in the 70’s without a cloud in the sky, so I’ll include a couple of those pictures as well. We knew this storm was coming so I split wood and did some maintenance on the heaters, at least it’s warm in the house! =)

The wind is blowing pretty hard across the mountains here today (65+ MPH I’d guess) and the autumn colors are in full bloom. Thought I’d share a couple of pictures with you!

This last Saturday we got together with William and Amy and dressed up medieval to run around in the woods with a bunch of other adults, hitting eachother with foam swords and whatnot. It was certainly a new experience, and I think we all had lots of fun. We encountered ghosts, and enchanted toads, made our way through an evil forest, and in the end we killed the wicked queen, saved the star-crossed lovers, found the heir to the crown and generally saved the day!
